Official SAT Subject Test - Biology E/M - June 2015

Idk, I thought that there was one about the thyroid gland and what stimulates it… But what is the answer to the one you are talking about.

I got the one about the posterior pituitary gland wrong, I thought the thyroid synthesized the hormones. :stuck_out_tongue:

@NYyoshi You are right! I just looked that up! Thanks, although that one was my first incorrect answer lol.

Are we sure about the motor and sensory neurons one? I put sensory.

I put motor but I wasn’t sure. I think its motor cause sensory is more of reacting to stimuli (like in the hands, skin, etc) while motor tells muscles and organs to do stuff

It’s not the substrate one for the mud and sand, it’s the density of the burrow, because mud and sand have different densities

no its substrate

Also it is motor and not sensory because the question said the nervous system controls the gallbladder, not the gallbladder gives information to the nervous system

Good… I got the posterior gland and mud/sand ones then if the second is burrow

What was the calcium one? I put calcium increased

I hope it was density, although the majority are leaning towards substrate.

i put sensory, because to see if they were related wouldnt you remove the sensory apparatus and see if the bladder still let out stuff? idk. I think i have 3 wrong. sighhhhh. dreams of 800 gone >:D<

Note to future test takers:
I self studied this test from the SAT Barrons bio book only cos it had that stupid guarantee on the back cover, but the book didnt cover all the info in the test. :frowning: and the prac exams in barrons to easier. Definitely use another book in conjunction!

Also, is it genetic drift when a trait randomly disappears from a small population after generations?

@Marcelleparcelle be grateful, I got like ~8-9 wrong. :stuck_out_tongue:

No it’s not sensory because the question is about nervous system controlling the gallbladder, sensory neurons just send information back, there is no control

I found Kaplan harder. Anyways, WHAT WAS TGE MUD AND SAD ONE???!!! I got density. And does anyone have a conversion chart?

The picture itself suggested substrate since no density was available to see

@IequalSmart Kaplan’s practice tests seemed to be testing the Kaplan book’s content in extreme detail rather than past subject test topics.

It seems like most people are saying mud/sand one is substrate, because the mud and sand provide different nutrients to the two populations…however I and some others put density because of density-dependent factors affecting populations.

The scaled score conversion table is in the Blue Book, page 348. I can PM it to anyone who asks.

@Willynilly123 its decreased bc pth causes more calcium to enter blood so no pth means less calcium

Guys as pth increased from increased pth gene calcium would go down because it said directly negative feedback.
