Official SAT Subject Test - Biology E/M - June 2015

@Collegewhat Thanks!

Also, for that PTH question, people are saying something about how the graph is there to trick you and it is negative feedback. What was the answer to the question about the graph about PTH and calcium.

‘randomly’. Mutation is Random. The last one was Genetic Drift, bottleneck effect because the trait completely disappeared.

i put density of burrows because mud is more dense than sand bc the particles are a lot smaller than sand

@catsthatbarkk i think we’re talking about different questions lol. @roryhughes Depends actually. the graph didn’t actively show that the difference of density had an effect. the difference substrate was directly shown on the picture they provided.

@roryhughes It’s definitely substrate.

How??? It should be density!

If you look up substrate on google, the alternate definition should make sense @IequalSmart

“the surface or material on or from which an organism lives, grows, or obtains its nourishment.” @IequalSmart

Do people get different tests? And was the PTH question in M or general.

@lequalSmart The PTH question was in the M section

Yeah, but my two friends got it in the normal section.

@theflash123 http://■■■■■■/MF5mrP
4 wrong is 76-(40.25) = 75/80 >> 780 Ecological, 790 Molecular
5 wrong is 75-(5
0.25) = 73.75 >> (rounded up to) 780 Ecological, 780 Molecular

This is according to the Official Blue Book scoring guide for the practice test.

Does anyone remember the structure of the Dna for M. Was it together apart together or apart together apart

Yeah what did the DNA structure look like? It was something about a lot of G-C… I put the answer choice where it was very closely intertwined, a big gap, then very closely intertwined again

Does anyone remember the last HUGE experiment for the M section with a chart about comparisons between genes of different creatures? There was a question like “what gene can be used to study the relationship between Humans #1 and #2?” Does anyone know the answer for this one? I thought I chose D… (which is a gene with a difference of 3 between the two humans). Anyone with the same answer with me? I don’t really understand what chapters or contents or knowledge the questions is really asking for though.

And there was a question like “how do you think a scientist will investigate the population density of a species in South Dakota?” I chose something like “sample in an one-square-mile area and extrapolate”. Anyone got the same answer?

There was also a question concerning pine trees and shrubs and north or south slopes of a mountain in North America. I chose something like “rainfall evaporates more rapidly on the south slope”. Anyone concur?

And there was an ecological experiment concerning two species of the same genus. One lives in sand, the other in mud, both on the same marsh. I’m pretty sure the answer to the first question is “difference in substrate composition”, but what about the second one? Something about “how to prove that they are in fact two different species?” I chose “Relocate some to a new marsh”… Because I thought the definition of “species” is a group of creatures that are able to interbreed and produce fertile offspring, so that after relocation researchers can observe if the creatures from the two different populations can interbreed and produce fertile offspring… Anyone concur???

A friend of mine chose something like “compare their embryology” etc. though…

@Boltingflame Oh sorry my bad.
