Official SAT Subject Test - Chemistry - June 2015

It took me like 5 minutes just to find Vanadium on the periodic table.

Vanadium has three unpaired electrons, while oxygen has only two unpaired electrons.

Does anyone remember the answer to the laboratory safety question?

percent yield question anyone?

@allista Can’t agree more. First time in my entire life noticing that there’s an element V. Lmao

I hate how we can’t remove the periodic table…

@blandscreenname I put heating something over a burner in a graduated cylinder.

That is what I got as well, but I was also considering the buret answer.

I removed my periodic table, as did everyone in my test room

Is it asking you the wrong one? I thought it’s putting acid in water

I got 94% yield.

You are supposed to do that.

well another stupid mistake for me then :frowning:

What were the redox reactions?

@tina23 adding water to acid is highly exothermic. You’re not supposed to heat a solution in a graduated cylinder because most graduated cylinders are plastic, so the plastic would melt

yess, guessed that

@apactstudent
I know, I just thought the question was asking what people CANT do

Does anyone remember other questions?

@tina23 I know… it asked which laboratory practice is incorrect. Like I said, heating a solution in a graduated cylinder is NOT proper laboratory technique. I’ll explain again if I must.
