Official test score reports

Hi there, so I am a freshman applicant to UC San Diego and I sent them my official ACT score report in January. I was wondering if this is too late and if it will impact my chances of admission?

Thanks a ton.

The SAT/ACT test deadline was December 31. It could make a difference on your admission decision if they did not receive the scores in time. Did you check your application portal to see if they were received?

Yes, it does say received on my admission portal.

If they received in time for your application review, then you should be fine.

So if it says received then that for sure means they received it before reviewing my application? Also, do you know if the early calling campaign goes to every admitted student or just a select group? Thanks so much!

@Senioritis33:
The early calling campaign targets Regents Scholars, Chancellor’s Associates Scholars, historically underrepresented students, and top admits based on their academic profile.

@Gumbymom “Too admits based on academic profile” I don’t buy that it just on that. Unless these kids fall into yield protection. Seems like some high stat kids get left out for one reason or another.

@gzza73: The information regarding the Early calling campaign and the reference to “top admits based on their academic profile” refers to Regent scholars. Not sure why you are taking exception to the wording which is posted on the UCSD website.

@Gumbymom so why would some kids with perfect stats not get admitted let alone not get regents? If it’s based on academic profile

@gzza73:

I do not have any special insight on how each UC campus determines Regents other than what information I have accumulated over the years. I know UCI Regents is based on faculty recommendations from the major departments. UCB has the interview process and for UCLA an essay component. UCSB has emphasized Volunteer/Community service over the years.

As stated many times, each UC campus will determine their criteria for acceptances, Regent scholars, Honors college invitees etc… Academics plays a huge role but it not the only role and academic profile could mean different things to different people. No system is perfect and each student can only attend 1 college so in my opinion it is good to spread the “acceptances” around.
