so i think i got my answer..

I received two letters for AAP via snail mail.

what are your guyses race/ethnicities? those who got AAP...

i'm indian (from india) and didn't get it (i guess)

I received one and i'm Indo Fijian. Meaning, i'm from the Fiji Islands with east indian descent

so did you people who received an invite indicate that you were interested in eop on the application for admission?

i believe ucla's aap defines 'underrepresented' as meeting one of the following criteria:
low income and first generation,
african american,
latino/hispanic,
native american

so if you do meet one of the criteria and are interested in aap, you should probably contact someone soon, especially if you do want to attend scholar's day

Students are eligible to be in AAP if their academic profiles and personal backgrounds may impact their university experience and their retention and graduation from UCLA. They are also eligible if they are part of any federally-funded program that requires counseling, tutoring, or mentoring.

congrats man. Stats?

Affirmative action ****es me off because it allows some people to get a free ride with NO merit. Let your academic achievements open doors for you not your skin color.

(I'm not saying this directly to you alansda. I am just saying this in general)

Thanks.

Low-income & first-generation

The real reason for my admission was because they messed up and thought I had <90 qtr units, and messed my citizenship status and originally reviewed me as an international applicant.

GO BRUINS!!!

yeah, but such is how the system works. so good for whoever to take advantage of the crappy system. i'm all for it. subjectivity ftl. affirmative action is inherently racist -- civil rights lost. vote ron paul.

irrelevant, but i was just thinking. did anyone think the UCLA "big envelope" was sorta lame. it was like 3 pages and bumper sticker.

back in hs, i remember getting waaay fatter packets.

beggars can't be choosers

Go Ron Paul!

idk i didnt get in anywhere after high school....

(whee ron paul)

To those who didn't get invites...don't feel bad. I wasn't invited either, but at least now I know why.

btw, does anyone roughly know when the first orientation seminar is? I know we can't sign up until after June 2nd, but I am just curious.

Lol, Ron Paul. You guys are cute.

I was invited to Scholar's Day, I guess because I'm Hispanic and low-income. I wish I could attend, but I'm several states away now and can't afford to go back on such short notice . . . I hope someone on this board or the UCLA one will give a report of what happens at that event.
