Official UCLA 2008 decision

I've been wondering the same thing.

DECISIONS in 7 days. UCLA rep came to my CCC, I had a discussion with her about fin. aid, the alumni call, and my "last minute" gauge on chances . She said I should check in exactly 7 days. 8 MAX.

Wheh!

WHOOOOOOOOT!!

thanks, Woman.Of.Troy for truly confirming this for us. People at my CCC ask me, "how do you know?" I tell them that the voices in my head told me (not really, lol). But I'm glad I can finally have proof.

yes UCLA next week berkeley 2weeks away

I wish i did FAFSA... could give me some hope (or crush it all).

I asked my parents if I should do it, they told me that the UC's will make us pay twice as much... lol, they're obviously exaggerating, but I let it lie there.

Parents and money... so weird.

Yup the rep said start cheking in 7 days. She hesitates... says maybe even 8 at latest. true that. Oy. the closer it gets, the more self-concious & insecure I get. lol. Regardless of what professors/counselors/friends have told me. :P

Did she say anything about seeing the financial aid summary on URSA?

I've been at school all day so I had no idea all this commotion was going on. I talked to her about my academic record & that I'd be completing reqs. for my impacted major this Spring.

I went on to ask her why can't I see an award on URSA? She said, for many students, they will see URSA the day they are accepted. It's just weird that so many people here can see it, so I'm getting a bit freaked out. I also asked why does it say my FAFSA hasn't been received. She said it was probably because I submitted it before March 2nd but then updated after my parents did their taxes mid-March.

That made me feel approximately 2 million times better.

Will all decisions be released in 7-8 days or will it be done on a rolling basis?

it's rolling basis!

awoo77- I asked that, she said most will get it that first day. The ones that don't are in the "maybe" zone. So if you guys don't see a decision, then you still have hope..

mattn- I'm glad. That's why I'm thinking I can't see any financial award yet, bc of the FAFSA update. :P

That sounds great! Thanks for the info.

Yeah I had been waiting a month for a rep to come. She's also coming next Tuesday.. lol. I feel calmed in some areas but also more stressed bc I just thought of addt'l questions to ask.

Actually, I always continually updated things here and there after March 2nd and I received a summary on URSA. I was always under the impression it was imperative to have submitted the form by March 2 and that updates after that were just standard.

yeah.... there were about 5 UCLA admissions reps at my cc yesterday and i ended up walking back from my car with more questions that i thought of a couple times.

some of the more interesting responses: she said that it's EXTREMELY rare that the admissions people look at your fall grades, or any grades that you update online after you've submitted the application. she also said that the order that we receive our decisions (rolling basis) is independent of department. this negates the myth that engineers are the last to hear.

Also, i asked her what kind admission rates and average accepted GPAs we're likely to see this year, and her response was that it will be similar to last year. She said that the increase in applicants this year doesn't have an effect. She also says that these statistics stay pretty much the same in a five year period.

Of all of the reps there, she seemed to be the one who knew the most. I felt a **** load better about my chances after talking with her.

btw... i just learned how to quote people: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/389208-how-do-you-quote-another-person-s-post.html

wow, thanks officespace. that makes me feel a lot better too. =)

lol. i actually just spoke to someone at my CCC transfer center and asked them if i could schedule an appointment with the UCLA rep (coming tomorrow, apparently, two spots open). But the person told me that if I in the process of transferring, the Center and the UCLA rep asks that I leave the spot open for those that are applying in the coming fall.

basically, "stop bugging the reps and learn how to be patient."

"she said that it's EXTREMELY rare that the admissions people look at your fall grades, or any grades that you update online after you've submitted the application."

Wow if true that is awful...that just sounds lazy...plus how do they not look at fall grades when they are included in the app by the time review starts. Honestly I would take that with a grain of salt because if you ask 10 different counselors the same question you are bound to get 8-10 different answers lol

Also it is funny how they tend to tell you that whatever you are doing is the right thing. My friends who don't have jobs asked the counselor's if that would effect their chances. For the most part the response was "we don't even look at that so it doesn't matter just focus on your grades". I have a great job on the other hand and whenever I asked I was told something to the effect of "We consider that extremely important. It shows that you are responsible and succesful blah blah blah" I stopped talking to counselors after awhile ;)

lol. You shoulda said, "how about, no?"

lol, i have class with that girl tomorrow. XD

i'm gonna give her grief.
