I agree. The rep. was agreeing with everything I told her I was doing to improve chances.

officespace, are you sure she told you they don't consider fall grades? I thought that quarter was the most important one! Wow, I really really want to believe you (since my grades dropped during the fall), but that's the first time I've heard that!

Just so I'm not confused, officepsace, she told you that they only count GPA up to the time of application submission, and the update form is only considered for pre-reqs/IGETC/units purposes?

counselors are ****ing idiots, the woman i was speaking with had a title along the lines of "assistant director of undergraduate admissions" on her name tag.

[quote=alansda] officespace, are you sure she told you they don't consider fall grades?

no, and that's not what i said. the dialog went like this:

me: will they look at my winter grades?
her: no
me: what if i submitted them with my fall grades.
her: no, they don't even look at FALL grades.
me: [confused silence]
her: only in extremely borderline cases will they look at the online update. they make their decision based on the application.
me: [filler]
her: shocking, isn't it? <- this last part is verbatim

i'm going to assume that they look at your fall grades if you're repeating a class... otherwise, i may actually have something to be worried about thanks to the failings of my CCC's bureaucratic system.

So if you're a strong enough applicant, or hopeless, the decision is made with the fall grades, Period? What if you're taking pre-reqs during Spring? (like me, & 3 in fact) will they consider my grade trends? (4.0)

I thought UCLA was a stickler for pre-reqs being completed.

One of my best friends went to UCLA a couple weeks ago and they told him how the admissions process works.

What they do is they grade each section. They give your GPA as score, your EC's a score, and your essay a score. If you add up to the right number, you are admitted.

I can't wait till admissions come out. I'm sooooo excited!

That Is Lame!!!! Omg

Really? I guess I'm in. lol

Sorry RCHANG, you're screwed. =)

i was told that they don't read your essays unless you're borderline.

from, yet again, another UCLA rep.

That is good... what do you mean it isn't? That helps out sooo many people!

<- Helps me out :)

from, yet again, another UCLA rep.

I'm just going with what they say on the site. Can't rely on the reps. For all I know, they're feeding us bs.
Transfer Admission Guide 2008-09

And I guess this is why we need an official UCLA Rep here on CC :)

They don't look at the winter update for fall grades? That's it... I'm going to be rejected... I did 3 of my pre-reqs during the fall... Wow I wish someone would have told me this sooner.

Woman of Troy, the rep said not to worry if your info doesn't show up on the ursa, but does that mean if you do see it, youre more than likely accepted? Thanks for all the info btw : )

dunt you guys know that the process of admission?
GPA - 4000 point
Essay - 4000
EC - like..1500??something
others like 500, 300 points out of whole points

oorah87: I think if you submitted your winter grades before the update deadline, they'll probably take it in consideration.

why does everyone here think they know better than the representatives of the school? lol

kidRobot: We use critical analysis. They feed us BS, we correct it here.

I don't agree that they don't look at your winter or fall grades. It doesn't make sense. Seeing that getting very low grades during winter and fall can effect your GPA a lot, I have a feeling that it is important. Also, why would they waist time with having people update their application for fall and winter courses if they weren't going to look at them? The amount of time and money it costs us and the schools, it doesn't make sense.

Doctors,

Where did you get those numbers? That is interesting to know!

we find similarities between what different reps say and we give it more weight if it remains consistent.

i dunno. if they don't take into consideration fall grades... then seriously, i'll be ****ed b/c my GPA will be 0.4 points lower than it is now. I really, really dislike Professor Margarita Lopez of LAPC/Occidental College. Lady, you better not screw me over or I will... just... omg.
