Official UCLA 2008 decision

This all reeks of BS. I'm nearly sure that they look at your fall grades (why wouldn't they? "Let's disregard this extra information so that we can make a less informed decision"?). Also, I'm calling BS on the points system. Maybe that was the case before UCLA switched to holistic admissions, but that strikes me as a UCSD-ish thing.

Giving points is their way of looking at your application holistically. My friend actually said the rep used the word holistically.

Maybe they got the two systems mixed up.

Hmm...

i'm seriously just sitting her refreshing CC nonstop omigash i hate stressing so much... MUST STUDY! Must...leave...my room... ]]]]]]]]]:

my stat professor asked how a ucla rep decide whehter one is admitted or not. the rep told him that they use multivariable linear regression or something like that. And the people who exceed certain points will get admitted.

LOL w-t-f, ADAMANTINEX, you wouldn't happen to go to PCC and have Professor oberlander, would you?

I sent an email to UCLA about this whole deal with whether or not they see/consider fall grades:

"Fall grades are considered in the admissions decision. Thank you for your interest in UCLA!
UCLA Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools"

lol yea!!!! he told me about it ahahahhaha i took his class spring 07

alansda can you give me ucla's email address plz?

I'm really stressing...
I had sent them an update by email bc the transfer update site was closed. It concerns adding a pre-req so that I could be done this Spring and thusly have more chances of being admitted to my impacted major. They sent me an automated repsonse but I have NO clue if the Comm. Studies dept. got it or even considered this factor in my decision. :(

If I get rejected, I'll know why bc it's this big misunderstanding, and could appeal and probably get in but I want the answer to be yes right off and live in peace!

what incongruent whores.

ucla reps are like hilary clinton in regards to their reliability

ditto. I just called everyone I could under the sun... they are evading my questions like no other haha.

Has anyone heard about people being accepted to UCLA yet? I was told by our counseling center staff that UCLA started Monday with admissions but only for a couple of students. I know a girl that in our student government who already got accepted to UCLA but she was given a full ride, I think she had several hook ups.

@alansda

Think for a second, why would UCLA e-mail you a response saying that don't see or consider your fall grades even if they didn't?

They must be VERY reliable.

I think by reliability, he meant ability to tell the truth...

mattn: Are you kidding me.....you didn't pick up on what I was saying?

Well, kidRobot, that email did not absolutely validate that they do consider fall grades, but it did bring into light the aforementioned incongruity.

At least I contributed to this 'investigation.' What did you bring to the table?

doh! it's been a rough day.

maybe someone should call ucla at three in the morning
