OFFICIAL UCSC TRANSFER THREAD (FALL 2014)

ACCEPTED!!!

Major: Cognitive Science
GPA: 2.76

ADMITTED!! Yay!!! Yayyyyy!!!
I am so excited because I had such a crappy GPA!! Okay yay. Cool. #happy

@sophie8290‌, what was your gpa?

2.54 :))

Admitted too!

Ladies and gentlemen, it was an honor going through this wait, aka hell, with you all.

So is anyone here going to UCSC?

@bhav007‌

Not me, I’m probably going to go to UCD, but if I get below a 3.2 this spring semester, I’ll have to go to UCI. If I get into UCSD off waitlist I’ll consider it.

@gawdzillah‌, Yah, I’m probably going to Davis unless I get off the UCSD waitlist. My Davis thing says to keep a 2.8 or under, and I’m the same major as you, CS.

@bhav007‌

That’s weird, mine says 3.2 :(

I emailed one of the UCD TAG counselors, and they said I should be fine if I get a 3.14, which could happen. So I don’t know, two conflicting points. Who do I trust, the conditions of admission or UCD counselor??

@gawdzillah‌, that’s weird. I currently have a C in one one my classes which might drop to a C- or a D at worst. I’m going to study real hard for the final tho. Do you what are the chances of getting rescinded with a C-? What about a D? This class is a non major prereq.

EDIT: I think you’ll be fine with a 3.14. What’s a UCD TAG counselor? Is it like someone at your school or from their school? Maybe you should get that person’s name also.

@bhav007‌

I think a C would be OK, but not sure about a D. This is what the UCD counselor told me:

We don’t want you to drop to all C grades and have a 2.00 GPA for the Spring 2014 term, or receive any D or F grades.

I hope so, but it sucks. I have A’s in my 2 3 unit classes. But I have B’s in my 2 4 unit classes, Discrete math and Data structures. Their grades are 80% and 100% tests respectively, so anything can happen. A single C in either of those classes will drop me to a 3.14.

EDIT: UCD TAG counselor here, they’re from UCD as far as I know:

I messaged the rep at my school for TAG questions a while back, and I decided to ask her again for the condition of admission confusion, hopefully she’s right about me being ok for getting a 3.14, despite it being against my condition of admissions.
