[/ul][ b]Subjective:**[ul]
[] Essays: Spent excessive time writing/editing them
[] Teacher Recs: I had one from my 11th grade nglish teacher who is also the journalism teacher, and i was editor in chief last year so I expected that recommendation to be sensational / spanish teacher - typical teacher rec, spanish was my best subject, and I had a UPenn professor write the third supplemental one - she was my professor this summer.
[] Counselor Rec: can’t complain, my counselor is cool, but she has nearly 100 other seniors to write recs for
[] Hook (if any): legacy + summer program

[/ul]Other Factors: I was relying on legacy a bit too much, now I’ve learned my lesson!

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: With my grades and scores I had the deferral coming - it wasn’t a huge surprise, just a minor setback/disappointment. Congratulations to everyone else who truly deserved to get in! You Guys are going to PENNN!!!

Congrats! I’m applying next year to that program and track and would kill to get in!

Wow, it’s pretty clear that 800s (esp. 800M) often gets you nowhere nowadays, or at best a defer. OTOH, being a URM is a big boost.

yeah… and int’l students get a big edge from what it looks like.. but then again… SATs are probably 30x harder (not by the questions but by the students’ background) for those centered in foreign countries

800M reject right here, I’d be inclined to agree with you, Percy.

colleges only care about uw GPA and rank these days:(

But now that I got deferred, I really am wondering whether they are telling me “We want to know more” or “This is a nice way to say you are rejected”. Anyway, congratulations to all going to Wharton, looks like I will not be seeing you there barring a miracle :/

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
CONGRATS to all accepted! I was shocked when I first read “Congrats”… I am so excited to attend… hahah

I see many write they had interviews?!! When and do they call for interview as a screening process?

Ask - interviews are not very important. My interviewer kinda… taught me how to be interviewed lol >_>

If the interview was important, then I would’ve gotten in

I don’t think it’s that impt, as I got one and ended up being deferred.

If it won’t hurt, could someone please look at my post of my stats earlier (on pg 3) and tell me how my chances are for RD? thanks!

I didn’t have an interview and was accepted. and at an info session they specifically said that it is not recommended, completely optional.

I had an interview and I think it might have helped me. She said I was a perfect Penn person. I don’t think the interview can really hurt you, but I don’t know how much it can help either.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: So many people have told me I would never make it into Penn. I’ve wanted to go there since grade school. It feels good to put in all of that hard work and have it finally pay off. My birthday cake will be red and blue and my new iPod Touch is being painted the same colors at ColorwarePC.com. Words can’t describe how amazing this feels. Anyone else in the Class of 2012 who wants to chat, feel free to drop me a line on MSN or AIM.

still not clear. So, are these interviews sought by the canddiates or are they part of Penn’s screening process for admission? in what typical conditions they interview?

they’re not candidate-sought.

if you’re offered one, you should take it.

if you’re not offered one, there’s nothing you can do (calling the admissions office will get you nowhere)

Decision & School: Accepted Wharton

Please excuse me for not publicly posting my statistics. While I can never truly know why I was accepted, I would have to assume it was my genuine essays, stellar recommendations, and personal interview. I had the SAT scores, the grades, the clubs, and the leadership positions that all applicants have; It was the personal things that put me over the edge.
