***Official Vanderbilt 2016 RD Admissions***

Wow jibblez, couldn’t contain your celebration to Facebook could you? :P

But congrats, I just hope I get in!

Congratulations jibblezbibblez! I’m an Indian and I received the exact same email as you, so I can relate to your excitement haha. Fist bump!

Supposedly the letters were mailed Friday.

i got waitlisted and got my letter today (i live half an hour away from vandy). it was nowhere near my top choice but probably would’ve been the best to me in terms of financial aid, so i’m a little bummed. glad i looked at that blog post beforehand… after seeing that 25% of people they admitted had perfect SATs or were within 10 points of it i didn’t expect to get in.

Holy crap. 25% basically got perfect scores? thats a lot more than previous years…

Yeah, the blog said that the 75% percentile for those admitted RD was 1590 (out of 1600).

Very depressing.

Vandy’s acceptance rate this year is almost as low as most Ivies. This is making me quite nervous…

Still waiting to see what happens with Vandy. I saw on their web site the 25 - 75% SAT range between 1470 and 1590. This corroborates my thought when my son applied that Vandy has decided to move up the rankings by looking primarily at SAT scores. Their supplemental application was much shorter and less personal than those at other colleges. Notwithstanding, we have our fingers crossed as this is my son’s first choice.

I agree - it looks like a major emphasis on SAT scores.

Well, last year in the RD round they accepted 3,200 and wait listed 5,500.

This year, they are only accepting 3,062 RD. I fear that an awful lot of very deserving applicants are going to get wait listed shortly.

I know that I shouldn’t be so negative, but 1470-1590 - ugh!

Not to get anyone’s hopes up but, regarding the waitlist–if offered a spot, and you want to go to Vandy, take the spot. Last year, 5500 students were offered a spot on the wait list, but only 1831 students accepted the offer. 212 of those students ultimately were admitted. Still not great odds, but you can see that a large percentage of students don’t take the waitlist offer. You will only be competing against people in your particular school/major for the spot, so if they need, for example, HOD majors and that’s what you are, you might have a shot.

Although the acceptance rate continues to decrease, the SAT and ACT scores are not that different. Last year, the 50% was 1440-1590 for SATs and 32-35 for ACTs.

Of course, the eventual numbers will be slightly lower for accepted students, since some of the applicants with perfect scores may go to the Ivies or elsewhere.

Good luck to everyone.

On Friday, the financial aid office contacted me for my documents. They told me to “send it as soon as possible.” Is this a routine? Does this mean I’m in or not?

Why would they care at this point if they weren’t going to admit you? I would take that as a positive sign…

@tkeegan Same thing happened to me. I’m hoping it’s a good sign, but you never know. I’m trying not to get my hopes up!

Accepted! Woo hoo! And they gave a lot of aid too! I’m really surprised.

However, is it bad for me to say that I’m kind of unhappy with my decision because now my parents are going to force me to go? I know Vandy is a great school that I’ll have a terrific time at, but it’s just that I’d like to get out of the area and find a better school. Oh well. We’ll just have to see.

I’ll post my stats later. And congratulations to everyone else who got accepted! And good luck to the people on the waitlist.

^your mail comes on sundays??

^ were you notified by mail

jibblezbibblez Congratulations!!! I am from Argentina and received an awesome financial aid package as well haha. Do you have any idea what the financial aid package included? Did you receive further information regarding it, like besides the e-mail?
