My sister absolutely loves Grove City College (which does not make my decision any easier), and from what I have observed, Grove City certainly maintains a Christ-centered atmosphere. Bible studies are common, friendships are genuine, and moral values are upheld. As you can see from my previous posts I was somewhat concerned that Wheaton was too strict/legalistic and even a little more liberal politically, but as I have continued to read about the college I have found that most of my concerns were unwarranted ( I think that may also be the case for Grove City). Because both Wheaton and Grove City are rare in their combination of academic challenge and unabashedly Christian beliefs I think they are often misunderstood not only by non Christians but by Christians as well. Ultimately, I believe that the schools are extremely similar and Ill just have to wait and see where God wants me. Hope that helped.

Wow, I just found this forum and its crazy...like some of you, I applied to Wheaton EA. I am also applying to Claremont McKenna, Davidson, Pepperdine, Rhodes and Grove City (Matt_2005-- my cousin went there). Sounds like there are some similarities out there. I am excited/worried/freaking out about my letter from Wheaton...I will be on Christmas vacation in France! But I live in Hong Kong (American, last lived in Seattle) so I am getting my letter (hopefully acceptance) via email. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I will be accepted...I need some reassurance! Does anyone know what they think about students living overseas and attending very competitive internationl schools? I don't have really high stats (1320 SAT, 700v, 620m) but have a decent GPA with a rigorous course load, good reccomendations (especially the pastor one) and lots of community service, missions (spent a summer in Africa), EC's, and such. What do you think? Im having a hard time deciding on my first choices...lots of good schools.

Matt, thanks a lot for the info. That sure sheds some new light on Grove City that I didn't see before.

Laura Jean, I'm no expert on Wheaton admissions, but all of your missions/ international stuff should really give you a great chance. That's so cool that you're living in Hong Kong right now, plus all of those other places you've been. Are your parents missionaries?

To anyone, what drew you guys to Wheaton in the first place? For me it was the (sadly hard to find) mixture of good Christian atmosphere with excellent academics. Also, I plan to major in Biblical Studies, and Wheaton has one of the best programs in the nation in this field. When I visited last month I even got to attend a New Testament class and it was really awesome. Wheaton is just such a great place.

I love Wheaton. After doing an overnight there in September, I knew that I would definitely love going there. The people are amazing, the academics are great, and something just clicked. But, for whatever reason, the first week in November, I started getting this huge obsession with prestige.. and applied ED to Williams. A week after I sent the ED app to Williams, I realized how stupid I had been... I would be much happier at Wheaton. So, I prayed about it.. and I was deferred from Williams today. I was SO relieved.

Now, I just REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that I get into Wheaton EA. Wheaton is the perfect fit for me.. in so many ways. If I get accepted EA to Williams, I know that I won't apply anywhere else. Ahh.. I reeeally want to get in!!

Btw, has anyone confirmed the 12/23 date for the mailing of EA decisions?

I just called Wheaton.. and was told that the decisions would not be sent out until after Christmas.

Hey guys, I hope you all get in at wheaton :). I just got into Yale, so I think I am going to go there. I know that wheaton would be a great fit for me, but it's in my hometown... I want to branch out a little :p.

Who knows though? Maybe I'll end up going there. You will all love it.

hey congrats newt! that's awesome that you got in! I'm glad I still have Wheaton since I got deferred from Stanford. I'm still applying to a few other places though.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about that torchi... I know if you go to Wheaton you will love it just as much as stanford :)

Do I have a chance to get into Wheaton?

These are my stats

EC's

Plus, I am very active in my church organization (I am a Mormon) and I plan to serve an LDS mission after a fall semester. I am a chaplain aide (of sorts)

I just have a couple of questions- are LDS students welcome at Wheaton? Do they think people from Utah are crazy? My dilema (sp) is that I want to go to BYU, but not BYU because it's only 2 miles away from my home in Provo.

Hmm.. I'm sorry to tell you, but I don't think that wheaton would you, because you are a mormon. They are picky about who they accept, and you pretty much have to be an evangelical christian. That's just from my general knowledge of wheaton though, I don't know if it's really true... check it out though.
