I was reading a few posts on another forum and was initially amazed by how hard-working the people there were because they were all talking about CR. It took me a few minutes to realize that ‘CR’ was the abbreviation of Cristiano Ronaldo. SAT inundated me.

Those of you rooting for a good Portugal/Brazil game were wrong. The brother countries looked like they arranged a draw. I hope Spain places 2nd in their group because I think a Brazil/Spain Round of 16 game would be very exciting! Chile is going to play for a draw.

I want an Iberian match-up. Portugal/Spain would be sick.

That’s actually very true. As long as Spain qualifies, you will have a very entertaining match.

Pre-game adrenaline starting for USA. The beauty of soccer is I have this emotion of hope and belief building up right now and over the next 24 hours, and then if and when the US scores, I get to completely let it all out and go crazy.

I don’t think the US has ever desired a win more than at the moment. Landon Donovan says that Twitter and Facebook and social networking has had a huge effect on the team. Back in 2006, this stuff wasn’t around, but now, Landon + Co. feel much more connected to everyone back home. I think they will show an unbelievable amount of heart in tomorrow’s game because of this. Landon even said he started crying while watching this video: [YouTube - The World’s Reaction to Landon Donovan’s Game Winning Goal](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbn3rOPmR9w)

Oh my god, that has to be one of the most uplifting videos I’ve ever watched.

USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA

Stop crying about the vuvuzelas! I hated them too at first with a burning fiery passion, but you really get used to them, in fact i bought one today, they sound much different then they do on TV.

^It’s just when they’re in a large group that they’re terrible.

I don’t find the sound of the vuvuzelas annoying, but they drown out the actual fans. It’s not all that different from it being completely silent behind the commentators.

Spain… damn. They’re back.

Damn right, and back with a couple new players: FIFA and the referees officiating this match.

^ Lol? The referees missed a blatant PK and the Chilean player should have been red carded already from his previous challenge.

The refs overall for this WC get a D- from me.

PK’s have been so hit or miss. Many fouls that should be PKs don’t get called while many fouls that don’t deserve PKs do.

At the beginning of the tournament, the referees were being commended for their decisions. That has alternating significantly as the tournament has progressed.

Great video! I literally jumped out of my chair and ran around the house screaming (waking up my sister in the process) when Donovan made that goal. It’s not like we won the World Cup, but it’s still an epic moment.

One of my favorite comments on that video that I’ve read is from a person from Mexico:

“Your happiness is contagious.”

I know that many people in countries around the world are not happy with political decisions the United States has made, especially Mexico on issues of immigration in recent months. But this comment shows the power of the beautiful game. This video has turned a lot of people who don’t live in the current 16 into US fans for tomorrow’s game (and hopefully a few games thereafter).

I’m really proud of this team and what they’ve accomplished. They have inspired many people and brought joy to even the longest faces (see the Lyons, France part of that video - it was just 16 hours after their team finished a disappointing campaign). These 23 men envelop everything that it means to be an American and then some. In what other situation can one minuscule group of people instantly make 300 million people believe?

let me settle this.

BRAZIL FTW.
Julio Cesar = hero.
Portugal is evil.
Ronaldo needs to fall into a hole.

^no.

That video makes me lol. It just fulfills the stereotype that Americans think America = the world.

Brazil just annoyed me in yesterdays game. At least Portugal attacked in the second half.
