Oh Lord...

Yeah interviews are super important. If an ADCOM likes you a lot he/she will work to get you into the school

Eh, I think it varies. I had some interviews that I thought I did amazing in, some that I didn’t do so well in, and one of the ones I got rejected from I had one of my best interviews.

@taftmaybe‌ Yeah, My interview didn’t go too well my first time around because I was a nervous wreck; surprisingly, the schools I didn’t favor were my best interviews by far. @mrnephew I think that counts too. Sometimes it’s just a gamble and while an interview can be important, sometimes it’s just not in the cards for you, I guess.

I think the interview is meant to verify what they see on paper. If they like your essays they want to make sure you’re not a crazy psycho who can’t talk, bites their toenails, looks down at the floor, speaks like a two-year-old, and mumbles random things after every question. If they feel strongly one way or another, I don’t the interview would make much of a difference.

I don’t think a good interview could get you in, but a bad one might keep you out.

I agree with Stargirl. The interviews are important, but they aren’t any more important than good extracurriculars, essays, grades, and test scores. The trick is to do well all over. Interviews are a way for the school to check your social skills, and I would think it is one of the major factors when they consider your fit at a school. You can’t go wrong if you’re polite and have decent enough answers. I don’t think it needs to be a warm, heartfelt chat, but it shouldn’t be a stone-cold argument, either. The trick is to strike a balance. Also, the school most likely takes into account the different interviewers; not every kid will have a great interview, simply because they didn’t ‘click’ with their interviewer or one of the two was having a bad day.

Although if you’re an impolite, nasty child, then it will keep you out.

Unless, of course, your family donates a building, but in that case, why are you even interviewing?

@mrnephew I know so many kids who get in due to mummy and daddy donating a new library. It makes me mad, but hey, that’s how the world works, I suppose.
