OH NO! Don't meet the minimum reqs.!!!

It says on the application that I need 3 or more non academic electives! In high school I only took two (it's my senior year now) but I am also going to community college now for some extra courses, and I will sign up for an elective to fill in the requirement, but there is no place I can list this on the USC app!

where do I put that I'm going to community college for a class?

if I can't do that, will I simply not be able to apply because I only have two non academic electives?

um.. i didnt take any non-academic electives. oops.

although my application says ACADEMIC electives. i didnt really do any of those either, but i did take 8 years of foreign language and 6 years of science.. so i'm just counting my 3rd language (3 yrs of spanish) as my elective.

Required Course Work

Freshman applicants are expected to complete at least 16 year-long high school courses, including at least 13 in academic solids and at least three in acceptable electives:

* 4 years of English (including composition and literature)
* 2 years of foreign language
* 3 years of mathematics (e.g., algebra, geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, calculus)
* 2 years of natural sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics)
* 2 years of social sciences (e.g., U.S. history, government, economics, geography)
* 3 years of additional courses in subjects above or academic electives (e.g., computer science, art, music, speech)

So they don't necessarily have to be non-academic - I would think that if you had 3 years of science (bio, chem, physics, or one or more AP's) or possibly AP world or euro history, extra foreign language, something like that, might count as a 3rd course.

Of course you are eligible to apply, and maybe even if there is some strange minimum requirement that you don't meet (can't imagine there is one, though) it's entirely possible that something else on your app will make up for it.

Contact your admissions' counselor if you have questions, but I'm pretty sure most any course would qualify as an elective, if it's above & beyond the couses which were "required." For my S, he took computer science & band. Don't stress--talk with your HS counselor & the USC admissions counselor for specific guidance.

There should be a section for college courses on the app, so that's where you would list your community college class. Don't freak out; any class that exceeds the graduation requirement is deemed an elective.

socks: You took 8 years of language in your 4 years of high school? No comprendo...
