So,

here's a very VERY twisted story. I am now on winter break at Tulane University, successfully withdrew and everything. I do not like Tulane for a lot of reasons, and decided that not going back for next semester for me would be the best choice (I am a music major and colleges with music majors that are serious don't usually let a lot of credits transfer so i figured why waste money?)

Meanwhile, next door to Tulane is Loyola Univ in new orleans. I love it there and am considering it as a trasnfer option. So, they had an audition for voie for spring semester on dec. 1st and the application was due dec. 1st.

Bearing this in mind, I hate being home...I came in at midnight last night and my dad and I are bucking heads, my friends are only here for two weeks, and after that it's like i work, prep for auditions, and just...kind of be a bum.

Question is...

Do you think a college with a deadline of dec. 1st would still let you apply? And also, do you think it's a bad thing to take 2nd semester off? I just feel so confused, lost...not sure waht to think.

Well, I don't know much about music programs, but here's my two cents.

I doubt they'd let you apply now, because it's more than halfway through the month. But you may as well ask - although it doesn't sound like you had any real extenuating circumstances to sway them, but I suppose you never know, and I can't see where it'd hurt to try.

As for taking off the second semester that depends...how sure are you that those credits wouldn't tranfer? Is there any way to check, just to get a rough picture? How much money are you spending at Tulane (if it's a good amount, and you really think the credits wouldn't transfer, then I'd say go ahead and take a semester off. But you'd have to be pretty confident about the above, IMO, or really willing to spend the extra time/money at Loyola (if you get in). And if you take this semester off, and apply for the Fall, be sure to do something productive during that time.

Assuming you can't get an audition for spring, and the credit thing turns out to be true, this seems like the best option for you, to me. But again, I don't know much about music programs, maybe they're an entirely different thing. Good luck, hope someone can give you more concrete advice (please take mine with a grain of salt!).
