OH Schools including Earlham

Shennie, don't worry about it. I just thought you were suggesting another school, shennie. I am open to suggestions.

northeastmom, The town of Granville(Denison) is very small, but the school shuttle bus goes to one of the most amazing malls in Columbus, about 30 minutes away. Seriously this mall is better than any mall in my NY suburb! It has many nice restaurants too.
Granville itself has a pharmacy, frozen custard (delicious) a couple of restaurants, maybe a bar, gift shops and some B and B's. Newark, about 10 miuites down the road (east) has more available. There you can find chain hotels.

Denison and OWU are close to Columbus. It's a great city with a lot to offer; shopping, social and lots of college students. Known many students that have enjoyed the experiences and felt they received an education.

Wooster's pretty much right in town and a fairly large town. One of
main drags runs right through campus. The wall mart strip mall area
is about a 5 minute drive north. I just don't think the kids have much
interest in all that, the action is pretty much on campus. Of course,
once you pull out of town, it's rural Ohio

You'd be fine at Wooster. There's public transportation, and downtown is easy to get to by bus or on foot if you don't mind walking.

Thanks all about location. Does anyone know what the neighborhood is like as far as restaurants, movies and mall near Marietta College?

Dennison is very close to the city of Newark, which has utilitarian shops (Walmart, Lowes, and several malls). Friends with cars ;) could always take your DS/DD shopping. Dennison area is beautiful and safe.

Thanks everyone. The surrounding areas of the OH schools all sound okay to me. I am not too sure about Earlham though. Anyone know?

According to DW Richmond IN is fairly small, quaint, victorian houses, fast food places. No mall she saw.

Northeastmom- There is a mall, but it is quite small and does not have a food court or the various "high" end stores one thinks of, but it is adequete. Dayton is about 35 min. away by car and I think they have a better mall.

Also a Starbucks and Chipotle recently opened in Richmond.

Defying, "good enough" is all we need. How far is the small one from the school, and is there a school shuttle, or public transit to get you there, or can you walk it?

Friendly note to post #2: Antioch College is closed, so yes, you are correct in your assertion that Antioch's campus activity is an extreme example.

I know when we visited we had rented a car, but you do need a car as the mall is on the "other side" of town from campus, but everyone on campus is allowed to have a car, even freshman so I am sure you could find someone with a car. In addition I think they run a shuttle but you would have to check that.
