Ohio State Engineering: good or bad

Hey yo guys

quick question. Does the engineering program at OSU have a good reputation? Any experience with it?

Well, according to this ranking: [ARWU FIELD 2009 Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences](http://www.arwu.org/FieldENG2009.jsp)

OSU ranks 22 in the world, and 4 in the Mid-west (only UIUC, UMich, and Purdue ranked higher), so I imagine there should be great recruitment through the mid-west, and okay recruitment outside the mid-west.

This is based purely off speculation though, I really don’t have any special information.

I don’t either but I don’t know if I would trust those rankings…

If you look at their methodologies they are including social science and other non-engineering school stats in their rankings (med and pharmacy). Some of these rankings make sense, but a lot don’t to me.

Maybe things have changed since I was applying to schools but Purdue and Cornell being outranked by UCSB? And Purdue, Cornell, and Cal Tech outranked by USC? My feelings here are based on reputation, are UCSB and USC that good of engineering schools? I heard that USC lied/mistakenly reported some of their stats that made they fly up US News rankings this past year. I wonder if these rankings were affected.

Those are the engineering ranking, they are using only the engineering criteria.

They’re not perfect, but they’re probably pretty accurate for OSU.

You should post this under the engineering section
