Am I able to switch schools during orientation, or must I remain in Fisher for the first year?

My understanding is that most students are pre-business for freshman and sophmore years and are not formally admitted into Fisher until all pre-requisite classes are filled. Accordingly, you’re not bound to remain in Fisher and any students change/add majors during freshman/sophmore years.

If I were in your place, I would contact Fisher undergraduate advising and ask them if you could switch in advance of orientation. You should ask them for a name of a contact in the Arts and Sciences advising and/or Political Science Department to have any additonal questions you have answered. Our son’s experience has been that OSU advising staff are very responsive but it is incumbent upon you as a student to seek their advice.

If you are interested in Political Science, another option is enrolling in the John Glenn School of Public Affairs. The undergraduate program is interdisciplinary and would complement your Political Science major. Alternatively,if you major in Political Science you could minor in International Business in Fisher.

You can do most anything you want at OSU …that is the benefit of attending a world class, dynamic institution.

Good luck !

Go Bucks!!!

Byanilla- It was my neighbor’s son who is now at Cornell so I can’t speak specifically to what he liked or did not like at OSU. I only know that he decided early on that he did not want a business undergrad degree so he switched.

I would contact Undergraduate Admissions and try to see if you can change your major before Orientation so you will be scheduled with advising in the College of Arts and Sciences for Political Science. I’m pretty sure it won’t be a problem but you will need to call.
