Ok, my child is not a Type A student, why am I on CC?

Extremely crucial point: do not look at your student’s qualifications when evaluating your student’s target colleges if they’re “high end.” Look at the acceptance/rejection threads on CC for those schools. If that doesn’t sober you up, nothing will.

But, to quote one of my favorite exchanges from “Shakespeare in Love”:

Strangely enough, it will all work out.

How?

I don’t know, it’s a mystery.

If your kid reaches high, be sure to have likely admits that your kid loves, would be happy to attend and YOU CAN AFFORD.

S1 had a pretty reachy list, but it was grounded by our state flagship, which offers generous merit $$ and loves kids from his program. He knew he could find his way there, so with that as a base, he went from there.

My son is not a type A. Not at all. In fact, he’s one of the most mellow people I’ve ever met. I admit it, I have gotten frustrated with him over the years about his laid back attitude and I am so thankful for CC for providing me a place to vent/get a reality check instead of sharing those feelings with him.

My son was rejected by his Early Action college and he’s fine with it. That laid back attitude of his will serve him well in life, I wish I’d embraced that a bit sooner.

Yes, definitely better to vent here than at your kids!!!

NO RESPECT goes to the parent who bases their appreciation of their daughter’s achievements on what some internet forum posters might say. if you are swayed by what other people (who might be lying) say, then i suggest stick to reading only the worst and most negative threads on CC. that way, you will feel better about what your daughter has done or not done!

simple.

This thread is NOT about being proud of your child’s achievements, it is about researching their chances of getting into college.

I dare you  !

not going to happen! I actually have had some very useful suggestions for the college search from other CCrs. Learning to ignore the others.

My non Type A student and I did not even realize that you had to choose some back-ups until visiting CC, through the forums we found a few perfect back-ups and today we received an acceptance from one of them with a $15000 per year scholarship. Thank you CC!

^^^^^^yes!!!

KaasKop, that is fantastic! congratulations!!

Kaaskop, congrats.
It is beyond belief to me that HS guidance departments seldom ell kids or paents about CC, which would help kids and parents tremendously and save GCs a lot of time–but often expose their ignorance about schools

agreed yabeyabe2. Our guidance office held their presentation for 11th graders this week. It consisted of a rep from a Com Coll, a rep from SUNY Bing, and 2 reps from the same private college. Very little useful info. It is shameful. such an unfair advantage for students who have the resources/assistance with the college search.
I am telling everyone I know about CC and other resources I have found.
