Alright guys, im a senior and have taken the SAT's twice. 2nd time was the best and i got 600 cr, 690 writing, 730 math (2020) --> improved 230 points. im signed up to take sat 2 in chem next week, but im probably going to change to regular SAT to improve the score...

I haven't been practicing at ALL lately (working on essays). When I did study tho, I maxed out at like 2100. My question is how did you guys, people with like 700 + in cr, take the test. My strategy is marking up the passage with questions and then answering as I go. Is this bad? I want to get cr up, so what should I do? Thanks for the help

yeah that’s what i did… i looked at line references and marked those in the passage and then read the passage until the places i marked to answer questions. i got a 730 CR score but my first two times, i got 580 and 590 in CR XD

i also eliminated answers before choosing the correct answer

what i do for CR,
only applies to long passages
1)dont look at passage
2) look at questions
-mark the global questions and leave them for the end
->such questions include
what is the story about
the authours main point is
etc, you will know when you see it
3)mark passage with line reference
4) start reading the pre read
5) read the passage until you get to a line reference, if the ans is not there read more
6) understand what the question is asking
7) the answer should be obvious, if not use Process of elimination
8)THE ANS IS ALWAYS THERE in the passage YOU DONT NEED TO MAKE ANYTHING UP TO GET THE ANS DONOT BE BIASED DON’T SAY HITLER=BAD when the passage says hitler is good and the question is asking what is the authours view of hitler is.
-> THIS ALONE IS ONLY A TEMPLATE, YOU WILL NOT GET anywhere near a 700 if you donot practice your reading/sat practice test.
-> LIKE ME, if you do alot of critical reading passages the answer always will stick out to you(most of the time)
TIPS:
most of the time minority group=> answer that is positive
extreme answers are not prevalent such as what is the authours view of this man cross out demon fiend mother**** man

ahh much thanks guys, i will try to use the tips.

any other 700ers + out there that would like to comment?

1) skim questions
2) read the passage, glancing back at the questions every few lines
3) in case you haven’t noticed, the questions are in order, so answer the questions as you read the passage.

It probably varies person-to-person but I remember being told to skim the questions, then read the passage. That was a waste of time for me.

Marking up the passage with questions would be good, but I doubt you have the time.
- Read through the passage quickly, but make sure you understand it (this takes some practice). You want to have some time at the end to go back.
- Know the time period and context. The answer is what the author believes, not you.
- For vocab, don’t waste your time memorizing 1000’s of vocab words. Chances are, you won’t remember them anyways. Use latin roots and the process of elimination.
- Study an .5-1 hour every day 2-3 weeks before the exam.
- Sleep! The whole WEEK before the test get some good sleep. I swear, this brought my score up more than anything.
