OK to have 2 humanities/socsci LORs for a future english major?

Hi everyone – I hope this is relevant enough to be asked on this board. I also know I’m being neurotic tyvm.

I’m a current junior trying to decide on who to ask for my LORs. Planning on applying mostly to LACs and like, Northwestern. I was wondering if it’s like, actually imperative that I have one STEM and one humanities rec if I’m going to study English and would honestly die to go to an open curriculum school because of how bad I am at STEM (if that tells you anything).

The issue is that I go to a weird virtual school where I’m taking AP Lang, AP Gov, Honors Chem and Honors Precalc. Because of the nature of my weird virtual school, there’s like 120 students in those STEM classes and like, 6 each in the APs. Hence my teachers in Lang and Gov knowing me much better. Also, this is totally on me I’m aware though I can’t exactly fix this now, but my attendance for Chem and Precalc sucks ass and my teachers probably don’t even know who I am.

Besides schools that outright say I need a STEM one (thanks Wesleyan), is it a bad choice to get the Lang and Gov LORs? I feel like I’m either overthinking and this doesn’t matter OR I’m making a horrible decision rn lol.

Any advice or personal anecdotes from people who did same discipline LORs? Thanks in advance!

You’re overthinking.

Except where required, not having a STEM LoR is fine. Having an English and gov LoR is fine. What you want to avoid is 2 English recs or 2 history recs.
