Ole Miss questions- high school freshman

Hello,
I'm a freshman in high school and I have become so interested in Ole Miss for some reason. I'm biracial, my mother is biracial and my father is caucasian, and I know about the strong racism in Mississippi. I know this may sound silly because there is rasicm in all states, some more prominent than others, but I would like to know about living there as a black or biracial man or woman? I'm just worried about my saftey and how black or people of black race get treated in Mississippi, or the university. Someone pleaseeee reply ASAP, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

When we went down to Ole Miss for my son’s orientation, the groups of kids that were hanging out were of mixed races and ethnicities. So were the orientation leaders, and they all seemed to get along well with each other.

Are you familiar with the internet term “■■■■■”? It looks like trolling when you post one and only one question and it’s on a rabble rousing topic. Try posting your questions about tests, admission, scholarships, majors, careers, dorms, and the pro’s and cons of small vs large, urban vs rural, or east coast vs west coast schools - whatever interests you - and you will find good guidance on College Confidential. The people who post here tend to be kind and helpful.

IND - as you mention, racism can be found anywhere. From California to New York, there are people who are prejudiced. I think an important thing for you to do with any college you are considering is to visit so you can see for yourself what it’s like there. I’m an African-American alum of Ole Miss and I am proud of the university for what it’s done and continues to do. Our current student body president is an African-American female. Also, Oxford is a very safe town and Ole Miss was recently named one of the safest campuses.

Ole Miss isnt like that all. The general tone of the school is FRIENDLY. so friendly. Everyone is so nice & helpful. I haven’t experienced or seen any racism. :)
