10 being most important

not important for me at all--my school doesn't have a chapter

not very

.

everyone has one now

alright solid, because i know some people in NHS whose top school is UMass Lowell...

What would 10 correspond to? A gold medal in an international science olympiad?
In that case, I would say a 2.

At our school, anyways, NHS is hardly an academic honor. Acceptance to our chapter is based more around service and character. We have very smart people at our school who were denied because they lacked the ECs.

umass lowell is a presitgious university young man.

i wish i could ge into there

i'd say not very, as other people said, many smart people are denied because of ECs. in that regard its kind of an EC showing you have other ECs...

Not much of an honor. It doesn't take thatttt much work and a lot of people qualify. I'd say 1.5-2 probably.

It's an honor -- yes. But if you're asking if it's much of a consideration in terms of admissions to the selective schools, it's very commonplace or even omitted since most applicants surpass the minimum requirements.

It's a complete scam. Now they're making an effort to allow people who get A's in "special ed" classes to become members. No disrespect to these fine people, but it's not much of an "elite academic" honor in that case.

Where would i put this honor if i am vice-president?

I was thinking bout grouping all my service clubs together CSF, NHS, Helping hand, Interact, and Ecology, would this look odd?

Maybe a 3. (Goodness, that's the highest rating so far!)

I'd include it if there's no limit on the number of academic honors to include on the application (i.e. Common App). Even if NHS doesn't say you have academic superiority (too many people have GPAs over 3.8 or something with my school's weighting), it does say that you have the ECs and leadership skills (at least at my school) to get inducted.

NHS reeks of subjectivity and secrecy. You should boycott/ban it at your school.

the Ivy League reeks of subjectivity and secrecy. Let's agree to all not apply there!

Even better, college admissions reeks subjectivity and secrecy. Let's just not apply to college!

Sorry, couldn't help it. xD

the people's revolution begins here!
