on campus housing and co op

I understand that students can stay in on campus housing during their co-op. If a student does a co-op out of the Boston area, can they get back into on campus housing afterwards or is it once out, you are out?

We live in the Northwest coast. My son has applied EA and NU could be a great school for him. I would dread having to deal with setting him up in an apartment in Boston from the other side of the country so I'd like to know how that works. I can't seem to find the answer on the website.

Thank you!

You can go in and out of on-campus as much as you please. Freshmen and sophomores are required to live on campus. Housing isn’t guaranteed for upperclassmen, but I’ve never seen anyone who really wanted on-campus housing not get in off the wait list.

Perfect. That was the answer I was hoping for. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

They realize that students are going in and out for co-op, and they are quite accommodating.
I am currently on a co-op abroad, and since I will be living off campus when I return next semester, I made sure I had everything set up before I left. The university also has an off-campus housing office that helps out if/when you want to make the move out of the dorms.
