I'm a high school sophomore at a level 3 school. I have a 4.5 weighted GPA and third of my class. I try to take up an opportunity that I can to learn more- I already plan on taking difficult classes senior year instead of a 3 period long internship in order to be prepared. I have a 3-career plan, either be a psychiatrist, something in political science, or an elementary school teacher. I looked into Harvard recently and I love everything about it. The atmosphere seems so wonderful, the teachers seem so informative, and the challenges the students face is something that I yearn for. Last year I took AVID 1, English 1, World Hist. 2, Bio, Geometry, Fund. of Health, and Spanish for Natives 1. This year I am taking Art 1(I couldn't take Human Phys. due to guidance messing up), English 2, AP Spanish, Chemistry, Algebra 2, AVID 2, and US Hist. 1. Through the AVID program, I will be doing Early College High School, so i'll take biology one semester and chemistry the other next year. In school I will take Psychology, Human Phys., AP Eng Lang., Pre-Calc, AVID 3, and US Hist. 2. Senior year- AP Psychology, AP Eng Lit, AP Stats, AVID 4, Physics, Pathophysiology, and Early College High School US Gov/Comparative Gov. I am also doing a self study for AP European History. For extracurricular I am in a youth academy that enforces college awareness, leadership, and character building (require >20 hours volunteer work, internships), soccer, tennis, math team, art club, internship for future teachers, and I plan on doing National Honors Society. Also, the AVID program would ensure a scholarship for students who completed AVID for 4 years and write an essay.
Bottom line- do I seem prepared for Harvard? There's nothing that I don't like about it, everything seems so accepting and challenging, yet an opportunity to explore new horizons. Are there any tips as to what I should do now? I am going to get more volunteer work and community service in. Is there anything you didn't expect from your experience there? Is there something you wish you did to boost your chances? Basically, any advice?? Sorry for the long read :/ I just have never wanted anything more!

A course list does not get you into Harvard.

Depends on what you are doing outside of classes.

"I just have never wanted anything more! "

May I be blunt? Please wean yourself of this Harvard obsession. Please read this thoughtful but frank post:

T26E4: i totally understand what you’re saying, and I’m not as obsessed at all, just very excited for getting in. I’m trying the best I can because i’m very motivated, and it’s the thrill of the ride that makes me seem so obsessed. In reality, I just want to be accepted and if not, so be it, i tried. I just want advice as to what else I have to do, but i definitely will take into consideration what you said. thanks

Dont try your best to get into one school.

Focus on doing the best you can in school AND out. You will be rewarded.

Take this from people who already went through college admissions/are going through it now.
