One more quick parental marital status question for FASFA??

I'm a mom filling out the FASFA for my son. On question 60/61, it asks for parents' marital status as of today, and a date for marriage/divorce/separation.

I'm assuming I'll be filling out the form with my husband (son's step-father) as 'father' for financial purposes (he's lived w/step-dad & I 100 % of the time for 8 years). Hoping that's correct?

So for marital status, I'd put "married/remarried." However, when it asks for date of marriage or divorce -- I was never married to son's bio father. Should I ignore that fact and put down date of marriage to son's step-father? When I write this out, it seems obvious (that I'd put down the date of my marriage to step-father 8 years ago) but I just wanted to check....

Thanks for any thoughts!!!!

I don't have an answer, but I don't recall anyone ever posting as to what that date is even used for! I don't think it matters much

according to instructions:
16. Marital status. You are required to provide your marital status as of the date the application is signed. Your marital status directly affects how your income and assets are treated in the EFC calculation. If your marital status changes after you sign your application, you must not change this information.
17. Date of marital status. Enter the date (the month and the year) you were married, divorced, separated or widowed. If you never married, leave this question blank.

I would interpret this to mean, put down the day you married your husband (son's step-dad)

That is correct.
