I was just accepted to Babson’s one-year mba program and I was wondering how successful the one-year students are compared to the traditional two year students?

I was also accepted to the One Year program recently. In terms of the curriculum, I don't think there is any disadvantage because you already have an undergrad business degree. The core curriculum is just accelerated, but you arent skipping anything. If anything, it's a more competitive admission, especially in the later rounds. That's something to talk about... However, if you are looking for a drastic career change, the two year probably makes it easier in that you have the summer internship. Other than that, the one year's the way to go - it's a much better ROI too. As you probably know, schools such as Kellogg and Notre Dame have one year programs, and it's the norm in Europe. Hence, it's not unusual, and wouldn't present a disadvantage unless, as mentioned, you are looking for significant career change in terms of field... In terms of how successful One Year students are compared to two year students, I will guess that they are as successful if not moreso. In my campus experience, they seemed to be of a higher caliber and more focused. And intuitively, one would expect that... All things being equal, if your cohort is stronger, the experience will be better.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with what you said and I'm looking forward to attending the one year program. Now I just have to figure out where my wife an I are going to live. If you know the area, let me know where a good place to live is.

I'm from the area. Newton/Wellesley are is nice, but expensive. If you're willing to put up with a half hour commute, places such as Natick to the west or Braintree/Quincy on the south shore are less expensive alternatives that are still nice areas.

Hi,

What is the typical age range of those who are attending Babson for their one or two year MBA program? Is this something that can be estimated?

Thanks+

The avg. is in the late 20s I believe. But you can go to the Web site, where they have class profiles for each program.
