Online courses for high school students

Hi,

I am a sophomore high school student, would to know if completing online college credit/high school credit/Coursera courses with certificates will help in an undergraduate computer science &a business double major application?

P.S. - If it helps, I’m doing the MYP and IGCSE together for grade 9, grade 10 and then doing the IBDP for grade 11, grade 12

If you are interested in taking online courses, find a good program and take the class for your own enrichment. I have taken a couple online classes to fulfill graduation requirements (health and consumer ed, plus a math class for my own enjoyment) so I have more room in my schedule for more rigorous courses that interest me. I don’t know if it will necessarily give you an advantage in college admissions, but it has helped me to make room in my schedule for the classes I want to take. For example, I would have had to take health class for one semester but I finished the course in three weeks over the summer and took a one semester elective during the year. Research some options, contact your school counselors, and figure out what works best for your interests and goals!

Of course money may also be a consideration. My school offers a couple online classes that are covered by school tuition but often your family will be responsible for the cost of the online class.

Thanks!
