I'm a rising senior and I'm thinking about applying to duke. This coming school year I'm going to be abroad but I really think that having an interview would help me so I was wondering if doing an online interview (via skype or the equivalent) was allowed/possible? Anyone ever had this experience?

No it’s probably not. Even though I live in New York, I live in a rural area with no alumni presence, and I asked if I could get an interview in any way online or traveling to another city, but they said it’s not possible. You might be able to get an interview wherever you’re traveling, but probably not.

We conduct undergraduate admissions alumni interviews in several overseas nations; after you apply, you will probably be assigned an alumni admissions interviewer. Skype has been used, however, at the individual interviewer’s discretion; obviously, after you are contacted by the assigned alumnus, you can e-mail him to ascertain if he will sanction this option.

Thank you both for your responses (they were both insightful). I will be abroad in Italy and hopefully something can be worked out when the time comes.
