I’m specifically searching for online electrical engineering programs
But as a side note am also interested in physics and mechanical engineering and the likes (online).
Is there anywhere I can find a comprehensive list of universities for either of those?
I’ve found a handful for BSEE
UND
Clemson
ASU
UA
APUS?
Any help at all is greatly appreciated and I am open to any/all advice.
As an engineering manager, I would definitely think twice before hiring someone who completed an engineering degree online. There are so many hands-on labs and activities that you would be missing out on. Not to mention teamwork and projects.
“This program enables students to combine Clemson online courses with courses taken elsewhere to complete the BSEE degree. (Clemson offers most but not all 126 credit hours required for the BSEE degree online.)
Prospective students must complete a set of prerequisite courses with at least a B average before submitting a Preliminary Application to the online BSEE degree completion program. Since Clemson does not currently offer all these prerequisite courses in an online format, at least some of these courses must be taken from other schools, then transferred to Clemson”
Note the “but not all”, “complete…courses…before”, Clemson does not currently offer…online” and “must be taken from other schools”.
Convenience mostly, I live an hour and half from any school currently, so commute or relocate. Initially I thought the same thing your saying, I forget where, but I found information that made me feel otherwise., So I started this search
I think the same way about projects and teamwork. I don’t know much about labs
but feel as though that might be worked around :):). Actually UND has you come in 2 weeks every summer for labs or something like that.
Maybe they have some work around with internet projects and such. Obviously not the same., But there you have it
I’ll definitely be researching that again, though.
Can I ask you a couple questions?
You’d say probably most managers feel the same way you do? Also, I think that online part doesn’t get mentioned until I’m face to face, am I right?
Your transcript will not state that classes are taken online. No one would ever know unless it comes out in a conversation.
If you are looking at UND in Grand Forks because you also are in the Far North Midwest, then online may very well make best sense for you. Summers in Grand Forks are lovely. Winters are much more challenging.
Hey,
sorry it took me so long to respond.
Your feed back was exactly what I was looking for!!
I looked into WSU and FIU.
I really really like FIU!! I can’t believe I didn’t know about it!
…Or that I didnt about that search function on usnews :/…
(…That other search link wasn’t fruiltess, but it took a little sifting. Sites like those are what brought me here lol. So many are eng tech and other stuff confusing:).
However, I was surprised to see Lamar U.
on there.
They are close ish to me! And in state!! Digging deeper yeilded that their EE program has a hybrid online option for students who can find jobs/ internships before graduating!!..)
Granted I still have to do more research. But I really appreciate your help.
Knocked it out of the park for me!!!
This could be my school???
As for Clemson your 100% right, it’s a degree completion program (I think).
I wish I would have said this in my OP, but I’m transferring close to all of my lower level courses. And I can actually take a class or two at my local CC in order to be transfer ready by their standards. Same story with UofAriz.
FIU trumps everything I’ve found so far concerning price point.
APUS has an affordable program that is enticing, but not ABET accredited.
Trying to find out if Embry is as well. Most likely not, since it’s hard to find.
Just trying to find something that doesn’t make me think it would be better to just relocate, which is still an option lol.
I never thought about but I guess what I was looking for was in-state online.
But FIU comes in at close to the same price…
So, there you have it
FIU FTW lol
This seems like the one for me, but I’ll let you know how it works out :)
Probably tes the waters at clemson soon, mayne call them.
Just to see what thats about.
Thanks again!! Sorry for the long windedness
Super excited???
