Only 2 Years Foreign Language... How Much Will it Hurt?

My tiny high school only offers 2 years of Latin, and I have taken that much... Will not having the reccomended amount of foreign language hurt me a lot during the admission process?

I was already going to be short in Science, but I convinced my school to offer an online Chemistry course for the students wishing to take that course...

If anyone has any input, I would LOVE to hear it.

If that is as far as your school will take you, then I do not think you will be hurt at all. You may just want to mention that in your application.

Definitely mention it in the additional info section of your application. As long as it is a limitation of your high school course offerings, and not just you being lazy, then you are in good shape. See if you can work in how you had to convince your school to offer online chem- it could show some initiative.

I thought only two years of FL were required?

Yah that's all that is required.. I just want to have all reccomended credits so I am not at a disadvantage...

Guys, thank you a LOT for your responses (they put me a little more at ease:).

Ryan

I read in princeton review that notre dame likes to see 4 years of the same FL

ND -students,,,,true?

yes, but if your school doesn't offer it, then it doesn't. Only 2 are required though.

well.... my school offers four......but only requires three........is it bad if i take only three? And its only 1 class of ap spanish IV...and i doubt i will be able to get into it

If it is any comfort, my son was accepted and only had 2 years of Spanish in HS. His high school uses block scheduling and between band and AP classes the language class just didn't fit. He may have mentioned that on the application.

I took Spanish 3 in my sophomore year.

It's technically two years of foreign language, but I hope it's all right for Notre Dame...

If its your schools fault, it wont hurt you. in fact, tell your admissions counselor about what you did for the chemistry online course and that will help you a little.
