Hello All. For a while, I have been debating what major I should be aiming for, and as a result, It has led to some semesters which the coursework really had no purpose (filler for that full-time status). Having made up my mind, most of this semesters classes previously signed up for are now thrown into that, “filler,” pile. Granted, I am attending a community college so taking those classes won’t be a huge detriment (to my wallet). However, it still irks me that I have signed up for classes that will not transfer, and I will have to take them anyway to get full-time status (Those 3 classes are 8-week courses, thus have not officially started). But does, “full-time,” really matter? If I lose some financial aid, my thought is that I would have lost that money anyway for taking those classes.

As well, how do colleges view students who trail to part-time status? I plan to attend University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne in Spring 2015, and I wonder if taking only one class in a semester will be harmful to my chances of acceptance. Do colleges look down on part-time students?

*As a side note, I have already done damage by taking only 2 classes this past spring semester, for about the same reasons.
