Can someone explain the OOS acceptance at unc for me?
Are you looking for acceptance rates for OOS students … which are calculated not to exceed 18%… or are you asking about how to improve your chances for acceptance?
The not exceeding 18%
There are legal caps.
UNC-CH admits OOS applicants in numbers that are calculated not to exceed 18% of an entering freshman class. See “Undergraduate Admissions” on Page 2, here: http://www.admissions.unc.edu/files/2013/09/Admissions__Policy.pdf.
Also, in the recent past UNC-CH has been penalized financially for exceeding the cap on admissions of OOS applicants, see here: https://alumni.unc.edu/news/fine-okd-after-carolina-exceeds-admissions-cap-for-second-straight-year/. So I imagine that UNC-CH is trying hard not to admit more OOS atudents than they are supposed to.
Thank you so much! I doubt you guys would know but I applied as a frwshmen with dvanced standing as I am dual enrolled in college this year. I recieved a 3.4 my first semester and made deans list at the college i attend, Is that a competitive enough gpa? Because my scores are currently lacking for OOS at UNC
Honestly… I don’t know anything about applying as a freshman with advanced standing. You will know soon- good luck!
