OOS Chances at University of Arizona, UT Austin, and UCLA

Hello all! I plan on applying all OOS next year, public and private, and I understand that many public flagship campuses have extremely low admittance for students — requiring extremely high SATs and stats — who are not residents. Given this, if any estimations could be given for my chances at these schools, it would be fantastic; thank you!!

I hope this helps. Thanks for your time!! If you can offer any other information regarding merit aid at any of these schools, that would be fantastic as well.

Are all these schools affordable?

It really depends on how much merit aid and private scholarships I can manage. We are at that weird income bracket where we are not low enough for need-based aid but not high enough to comfortably afford anywhere full-tuition.

UCLA gives little merit aid so unless you receive significant private scholarships, expect to pay close to $55K/year. Have you run the net price calculators on these schools?

^To add to that point, UT won’t be a good choice either for an OOS student who needs financial aid. UT Austin is $45,000 for OOS and they don’t offer much aid.

If you are relying on private scholarships for OOS publics, then I will assume that you won’t have enough funding to pay for those schools.
Find some schools you can afford.

You will almost certainly get into UT, I’m pretty sure the Arabic Major is in the College of Liberal Arts, which is not nearly as competitive as many other majors like Computer Science or Business, usually when students don’t get into those they are offered many of the majors in COLA.
