Searching through Clemson’s website, I found this: [Clemson Gay Straight Alliance : Clemson University](http://www.clemson.edu/campus-life/diversity-education/cgsa.html)
And there’s also a College Democrats group on campus and I don’t think too many people will give you much worry with your religious beliefs.

There are support groups, they’re just not popular on campus.

Hope you enjoy your campus visits! Travel safely and be open minded!

I’m sure you will love UCLA’s campus. It’s students are just as beautiful as the campus, and the weather is always a pleasure. You’ll find that the school is a complete city on it’s own, but if you have the time, go on an adventure and try to find Hugh up in the Playboy Mansion (2 blocks away), or catch some waves down at the breathtaking Santa Monica beaches!

In my opinion, you should definitely go for UCLA. Considering that you’re uncertain in what you want to major in, UCLA might be the safest choice academically. UCLA is one of the world’s most prestigious universities, and many, if not all, of their programs are top notch. With that in mind, you can explore different interests and know that no matter what you major in, you will be getting a highly ranked, world-class education.

Clemson and Rutgers are great schools, too. But you wouldn’t want to go in as an engineering major, find that you hate it, and decide to switch to say English, or Political Science where the programs aren’t as strong.

College is a time for you to explore and broaden your horizons.

Best of luck to you.

^cr8tivrec, just curious, do you know how hard are the budget cuts in California affecting UCLA? I know South Carolina has dealt severe budget cuts to Clemson too but I know someone thinking about going to the UC system and I don’t know how bad it is.

As for Clemson, if you want to switch to any nursing, architecture, agriculture business, education, science majors, they’re pretty strong too. Political science actually isn’t too bad at Clemson as well as economics or history. English and “writing majors” probably aren’t the best here.

The budget cuts are undoubtedly affecting UCLA. Like the rest of the campuses, tuition increased by 32% from last year. However, how severe the cuts are really depends on which campus your friend is interested in attending. UC Berkeley and UCLA have taken SEVERE criticism because the Regents of the University of California favor them over the other campuses since they are the two flagships. Several petitions have been filed to recharter UCLA and UC Berkeley into private institutions or seperate them from the Regents like the University of California, San Francisco (Medical) or UC Hastings (Law). Unlike the other campuses, UCLA and UC Berkeley haven’t faced cuts in library hours, funding for the arts, or reduced funding for campus improvement. UCLA is constantly improving and adding to their campus (hence it’s acronym surname “Under Construction Like Always”).
UC Berkeley (being the systems’ highest ranked campus, and #1 public institution in the world) has faced little impact from the budget cuts, aside from the tuition hike.

Personally, I support the idea of UCLA and UC Berkeley becoming private schools so that the mid to lower tier UC’s stop taking hits because of them.

RecordsOn- I searched up these videos that I remember watching last year. They may be of some assistance to you. They’re great videos that really highlight the strengths of each individual campus. Check them out, and watch them in their entirety, they are great videos!

It’s always good to know a few things about the school’s you’re interested in before you visit them. I apologize for not being able to find one for Rutgers, but you’ve already been there so I’m sure you have an idea of what it is like.

Thanks guys! I’m finally back from visiting both campuses, and had a GREAT trip. I even managed to visit a few other ones, too. I got to see Furman and USC (Southern California).

I really liked Clemson’s campus and was in awe of the beautiful nature. I also got to visit the Cooper library and fraternity quad. I tried to make a trip to Death Valley but never found the time to do so. I talked to a professor, too. He told me that Clemson would be a great place to attend, even though he flat out told me to go to UCLA if I get accepted. I met a few students there who were quite friendly, and I was really relieved. However, once I started to open up to them with my concerns, it was like I was a whole new person to them. Even though they said that I would be unhappy at Clemson, I’m sure that everyone can find their niche! Weather was pretty mild and relaxing.

I’ve fallen completely in love with UCLA. But man, there were a lot of people there. Is it fall quarter already? The campus was gorgeous and extravagant. It was definitely a polar opposite from Clemson. The location of UCLA is just amazing. It really reminds me of NYU, but safer and more upscale. I went to Diddy Riese…which I’m pretty sure is a gift from the gods. Unfortunately, I didn’t meet any celebrities. I got to see the Powell Library, which I could stare at for days. I also got to see the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center where Michael Jackson died. I really hate how they don’t have their own stadium, though. Who wants to drive like an hour away to watch your own home game? Huh? Oh and the weather was blazing hot. It didn’t surprise me that almost all the UCLA students I met were toned and tan. The incredibly hot weather was killing me.

Furman and USC. Eh.

Records, glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit at Clemson! Look forward to seeing you here if you feel that it’s the right fit for you!
