Okay, so I'm terribly interested in both and I honestly cannot pick just one...does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Also, can I have a career in both?

I guess the logical question here is can you sing? And then, realistically, how well? What kind of training have you had and what do you know of the training required of both majors in a conservatory or college setting? As a Drama/Acting major, there will be literature and stagecraft, but you’ll get performance opportunities early on- not so for Vocal Performance(which is what you’d be majoring in, not “opera” as an undergrad and most likely not as a grad student either). In the latter, stage time will be scarce as an undergrad and you’ll take extensive music theory and history classes, piano, languages and diction, workshop and studio classes along with your voice lessons and along the way, a dance and acting class. Even the UK schools, which often encourage cross auditioning among arts majors don’t usually mix these two majors and because of the intensity of them. The immersion in music required of an opera singer- and the importance of keeping your name and face out there for recognition- make active careers in both at the same time not feasible. Only you know where your true passion lies and which path is right for you.

You can try, but managing a dual career seems like too much.

I’d study both during the first year and decide.

Also as an opera singer myself I can tell you that acting skills are well appreciated.

Acting and vocal performance (classical) really go hand in hand. As a singer, you have to be able to act and emote. I feel like if you major in vocal performance it would probably be easier for you to get a job in a theater as an actor than if you had an acting degree trying to get a job in an opera as a singer.
So maybe you should consider weighing what degree has the broadest horizons and then develop your path from there.
