I'm an incoming sophomore transfer and I would really appreciate someone's opinion one this schedule. The AOP packet said that it would be a good idea to have a tentative schedule planned out so your adviser can have an idea of what you want to do. At my old school we never had this many choices and I just feel kind of overwhelmed.

And there are also 2 specific questions I have:
Will I be able to make the bike from the Engineering building to Akers on time in 20 minutes? They look kinda far away from each other.

And is 18 credits too much for my first year?

Thanks again if you actually took the time to read this post lol ^_^;

I just took a quick glance. It will take me longer to figure it out but did you leave yourself some time for lunch in there?

I am a parent. My son had one day a week where he had all his classes, one right after the other, and it was tiring for him. Most of the students I know took 12 to 15 credits and my son also took classes during the summer last year to ease his load. That got him down to 13 credits a semester.
You can fit all those classes in but remember you also have to do many hours of work on your own afterwards. I am sure some students do take 18 credits. The advisors at AOP can help you decide.
As for biking between engineering and Akers. I have a map that shows it takes about 20 to 25 minutes to walk it so it is hard to say. Your classes sure are spread out all over!

Thanks for responding,
Could you believe I forgot about lunch? lol
For the course load, I did 18 at my old school and felt like I had a lot of time being idle in the day, but then again I don’t know what the difficulty is like at MSU. And I’m also trying to squeeze in a German minor along with human biology major for pre-med.
And I really don’t want to do summer sessions because I want to do research in the summer.
And as for my classes being spread out, I am so used to all my classes being within less than 10 minutes of each other that I guess its kind of hard to wrap my head around time-management and whatnot.

You sure are right about me letting my adviser help me out with these things but I’m just so obsessive about stuff like this, hahaha. And my AOP isn’t until August!

Looks great to me. I just took cem 251, and it’s not what most people make it out to be. Hopefully you can get into Rathke, he’s the best!

Will I be able to make the bike from the Engineering building to Akers on time in 20 minutes? They look kinda far away from each other.

Yep, you definitely can. The walk from the engineering bldg to akers is about 20-25 minutes - so I’d guess it’s about a 10 minute bike ride?

And is 18 credits too much for my first year?
-I took 17 my first semester. It wasn’t bad at all (ends up my 14 credits 2nd semester was a lot harder because of the classes I took). Your chem class looks the hardest by far, generally the ISS and WRA classes are a joke (it all depends on your prof) but I think it is definitely doable.

In terms of lunch, last year we had combo-exchange at Sparty’s (once a day, we could go to the Sparty’s convenience store and grab something to go as part of our meal plan i.e. a soda, fruit cup and a lunchable or soup-on-hand or sandwich etc). I don’t know if they are keeping the same thing the next year, but there will definitely be some sort of grab-and-go option available if you aren’t able to change your schedule to have a longer lunch break.
