I auditioned on the 26th, and I did enjoy the school, but I am torn between a BFA and a two-year conservatory. I know they have a BFA option, but it is in LA, and I really can't afford to leave the east coast. What are your thoughts on AMDA's program?

AthenaL there are many, many threads on this very topic…

Whoops… Sorry, I didn’t realize that. I saw a couple, but based on the date I saw they seemed a bit old. I was hoping to get a current student, or recent graduates opinion, or something.

No need to be sorry! That topic resurrects itself very year… you might as well be the one who does it this year! I do not know much about the program… only what I read in this forum. I am sure others will weigh in.

I have heard a lot both ways but what I can tell you is a friend of my D’s went there and graduated 1 1/2yrs ago. She has been working in Regional Theatre and on cruise lines ever since she has graduated.

It’s really hard to say. It’s clear that AMDA’s reputation is not that great among those who are involved with musical theatre, but if you look at broadway, off broadway, and national tours a lot of AMDA alumni’s are in working in them! So they must be doing SOMETHING right. Their admissions policy is a bit generous, but i do actually know two people who DID NOT get in. So it possible to get rejected :(… I guess its one of those schools where you just have to visit and audit classes and just pick up your own vibe from it.
