@grandscheme ok, thanks!
If interested in Boston College, might look at Holy Cross(imo better academics than BC). Holy Cross offers great combination of academics and school spirit. HC has great alumni network for job placement.
Sorry but college admissions in general are very depressing and you thinking your GPA is not far off is false i agree with @auntbea
@mmmkkk2 It’s okay I got slammed the first time on CC too. It’s a learning process, but users, especially seasoned members, are not going to sugarcoat your chances. I suggest talking to your counselor and using CC for a reference. That being said, I have the same GPA as you and have similar circumstances. The difference is I didn’t even report EC’s that didn’t matter to me at a fundamental level. If they aren’t your passion, don’t even report them as they come off as filler (from what people have told me). Stanford has a 5.07% regular decision acceptance rate, and not having recruitable status, scores, or an outstanding GPA might make it difficult (not sure about URM). If you don’t want blunt feedback then don’t put yourself out there like that. I have been told that EC’s can save you if scores or GPA is low, but you have to have 2 out of the three. A 30 still isn’t insanely competitive at Stanford. I know because I’m in a similar situation (even though I’m much much less knowledgeable than other users here). If you need reference, here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1840965-chance-me-for-hyp-and-top-tier.html#latest (its not a self promotion, I already got the “chance me” answers I needed)
Combine your EC’s. I’m not saying they’re weak. I’m saying you have them spread out all over and have included items that are not ECs; your EC’s will not make up for your grades/stats.
You can always apply to Stanford and see what happens. However, right now your priority should be to identify really good fits for you that are matches or even safeties. Maybe a school that is not so high up in rankings BUT has a lot to offer to YOU and you will be happy there. Also see what compromises you might want to make in case you can not have it all. If you do your homework now you will not be crashed and clueless when Stanford denies you. And if Stanford accepts you then there is no harm. Win win situation.
