Why are so many students at Emory Pre-Meds? What advantages does the school offer for pre-health students, in terms of volunteering/research/internship opportunities? I know there are pre-health societies and organizations on campus for this specific purpose; is anyone aware of what specific activities these organizations do? I'm trying to look for a campus that offers as much exposure for pre-meds as possible. Like I know Emory has a hospital and is a major research institution and all, but can underclassmen tap into those resources?

Any clarifications on this? Basically this is my one major question; otherwise, I’m more than sold on Emory and my follow-up question to this one would only be, “Where do I submit my initial deposit?” :)

Just a few of the reasons:

Emory Hospital is literally right on the campus

The national Center for Disease Control is literally right on the campus (I can see it from my dorm)

Emory Healthcare is the largest healthcare provider in all of Georgia, operating a network of hospitals and clinics.

Emory is one of the nation’s leading research universities. In 2009 Emory received $484.2 million in total research funding awards

I know all of that, but do undergrads have the opportunity to take advantage of those as underclassmen? I’ve read about Emory Healthcare and the CDC, but can undergrads really be a part of that process and get involved there?

Here’s a response from a friend who’s a senior in pre-med
