Optional Essay: Should i write it?

I was wondering how important the optional essay is to write. The one that says write page 217 of your 300 page autobiography.

I am only a decent writer, and i'm not extremely creative so i don't know if i should write this essay.

Will it have a negative impact on me if i write it and the essay is only decent, or would it be better to leave that one blank?

write it...

Are you kidding? What do you think?

It's up to you. With these optional essays, they truly are optional. If you don't submit one it will have no negative impact on your application.

Arguably, it could have a negative impact, because most of the serious applicants will write one, and therefore you could stand out by not writing one. Not writing the optional essay could quite very well be misconstrued as a lack of effort, as well as a lack of confidence in your essay writing skills.

Honestly, it shouldn't be that bad. You can write about anything! That's a great opportunity to tell the admission officers more about yourself. the more they know about you the better. Just take the chance. You never know. It might end up helping you. Not all successful college essays are super creative. You just have to sound like yourself (okay, maybe pamper yourself up a little) and avoid "forcing" creativity on yourself. it will only backfire if it doesn't come off as natural. If the admission officers can't appreciate the kind of person you are, then you do not fit in the school. Then go to your other options.
