Oregon is thinking outside the box on tuition

<p>Will be interesting to see the results.</p>

<p>Saw this on the WSJ. Love the idea in concept though the % needs to be more like 10-15% to be sound, with 0 defaults and everyone making an avg of 60k over the term, 3% of their gross salary is only 36k with 0% interest rates. Not practical.</p>

<p>However, its completely impossible in practice. Money is uncollectable. Also, the way they plan to fund it doesn’t solve anything either- 9 billion dollars from taxpayers for ‘seed’ money. So essentially the program is insolvent from the start and just a backdoor way to give the universities more money.</p>
