i was told we would receive a packet for orientation in the mail. has anyone received one?

i havent :(

i got something about it, but it was addressed to the parentals and had barely any info in it

Just got the mail. It's a little brochure for parents about the parent/family orientation program.

i just got it today too.
is this the only orientation packet?

or is there going to be another with more information?

yea i got the parents one, but i dont think thats for students

i got the orientation for students brochure today, and the parents one yesterday

i got the parents one a couple days ago, and the students one today as well.

don't go to orientation. it's a waste of time and money.

dont you enroll at classes at orientation though?

yes, but if you don't go you just sign up at the end of summer or something.

I heard that orientation is a good thing to meet people early. Also won't some classes be filled if you wait for the fall?

I don't keep in touch with anyone I met at orientation. One girl lives on the floor below me, and we say hi briefly if we see each other.

Yes some classes will be filled, but it's just fall quarter. You should only be taking three classes. Try for at least one class in your major, and have the other two be GEs if you want to.

I got the student one today.

well, im goin. im oos, and this is an excuse to travel. plus i have to take those darn placement exams

definitely go to orientation, it is very helpful in terms of planning classes, sign up earlier (people in later orientations and don't go to orientation don't get the chance to sign up for some of the classes such as chem 14a for premeds) and just get used to the campus, like how the dining halls work, faster ways to get to campus, and know where the buildings are at...

I didn't received the orientation packet yet. hmm

i didn't receive one either.

its not even a packet, more like a brochure

And it doesn't have any information that's not already on the website orientation.ucla.edu
