The link for D1's pre-orientation survey was available about an hour ago, and once the survey was complete she was able to schedule her Orientation date as well as her dates for Nature of Life (additional orientation for CBS students). It said the survey wouldn't be available until midnight, but everything was already active and she received a confirmation e-mail at her Gophermail account for the dates she selected. One more step down on the road to the TCs!!

Thanks Wolverine - S2 has not yet committed to the U of Minn so he cannot access the orientation forms. He is waiting for one more decision (a reach for everyone) and if accepted he will have to convince us why we should fork over and extra $50,000. On Saturday we toured Middleton and I was impressed with the dorms - so that is one less thing to stress out about.

^At least the time for final decisions for many folks is drawing near. There’s a lot of stressed out CC’ers out there!! We were thankful D1 made her decision relatively early in the process as it allowed my wife and I to start sleeping better. Good Luck to your S on the last decision, but remind him that $50,000 could be much better spent at the Mall of America…Go Gophers!!

We finally pushed the button to confirm enrollment for next fall. Princeton didn’t want him, but that is their loss. S2 is thrilled with the U of MN and all it has to offer. Plus with the great merit scholarships they offered we will actually be paying less money next year than we do now for his high school school tuition. And I do agree that finalizing the decision will reduce the stress level in our house. Tonight we celebrate!

it will be fun to watch a Wolverine cheer for the Gophers!:p

^Outstanding news Kajon!! Congrats to you and your S. Princeton’s loss is U of Minn’s gain. And D1 knows I’ll root for the Gophers…anytime they’re not playing my Wolverines. In the words of Val Kilmer from “Tombstone”…“My hypocrisy only goes so far” :-)

Yeah i just committed too. Now for all the registration stuff! Super excited though

How long does it take after paying the confirmation fee before the orientation email is sent? I have a $225 credit balance on my student account, so they received my fee, but I still can’t sign up for orientation dates…

noimagination & ohmygosh09- it is nice to see you finalized your decision. The U of Minn is a great place and located in a wonderful city.

My son turned his confirmation stuff in last Thursday and it was after 4 on that Sunday that he was able to access the pre orientation checklist. Be forewarned that some of the questions will require more than a few minutes to complete!

^ Okay, cool. I submitted on a Thursday too, so I won’t expect a response for a day or too.

^noimagination…Hopefully it won’t take more than a couple of days, but it does say on the website that it may take up to 10 days to process the confirmation fee before the links are available. I would think that if your account shows that balance they’ve already processed the fee, but if the links aren’t available right away it might just take a few extra days.

For those signing up for parent orientation, some of the colleges take a while to get the info from scheduled orientation dates to the First Year Experience folks. When I signed up, it showed that D1 had still not chosen an orientation date even though she had done it 4-5 days earlier. I called to confirm and they said there’s no issue, just that CBS may be a little slow in updating their database. As long as you get confirmation e-mails on the students Gophermail account for the dates they select you should be fine.

Whenever I do the preorientation survey, it says error… so i can’t choose my dates. Any suggestions?

^^ Thanks for the additional information.

^ Same situation I have. I’m pretty sure you have to wait for an invitation to appear in your Gophermail account. Which can apparently take up to 10 days.

My balance went to $0.00 today, which is encouraging.

Yeah i just hope the good dates aren’t all gone!

^Not sure if it affects all the stuff on MyU, but I was trying to check some of the financial aid pages on D1’s MyU and it said the system was down for maintenance and should be up again around 1 PM today.

D1’s Gophermail never got any kind of invitation, but different colleges may handle their own checklists differently. She had paid her deposit a while back, so her links just went active as midnight on the 30th approached.

Just an update: the system started working, and I can now select an orientation date! It just takes a few days to process.

When did you do your pre orientation survey?^

^ I did it for the first time last week, then a couple more times since because I didn’t realize there was a direct link to the page where you choose your date. Hopefully the duplicates won’t be a problem.

I think it just takes a few days - in my case, six.

oh okay so was the link like sent to you via email or what?

^ The link to the preorientation survey is on the CSE checklist, which is in turn linked from a message in your Gophermail account. But the checklist is on the CSE website too.

After you finish the survey, it redirects you to a page with a cfans URL in order to choose your date. That’s the spot where you get an error until your information has been processed. Provided that you are logged in, you should be able to access it at https://webapps2.cfans.umn.edu/CSEOrientation/Register.aspx

so what happens when we reserve an orientation date we go there and what sorry am int. so i dont know what the orientation thing is about?
