Can a first time in college transfer student attend freshman rather than transfer orientation, or perhaps both? I was dual-enrolled in high school and got 60 credits, so I’m technically considered a junior-level transfer applicant and have to attend transfer orientation. Any way to get around this? I feel like freshman orientation would be a bit more helpful for me, plus I could meet some people.
You really want to do the transfer orientation. It will be much more specific to your college and to life as a “junior”. They also will be able to advise you on your upper level classes and help you get registered for your first semester. The “right” advisers will be at your transfer orientation.
When you pick your dorm, select a social “freshman” dorm, like Broward or Jennings and get involved with clubs. You’ll still get the “freshman” experience, even thought you’re taking more advance classes. The best way to make friends, closer to your age, will be in the dorms and in clubs.
