Im new here so I wasn't sure where to post. Originally I wanted to transfer into business school to major in accounting but recently they changed their gpa requirement and there is no way I could get in now...can someone help me please? Is there a different major I could do to become an accountant. i heard of economics but I have been hearing different things, like companies would hire accountant based on their major even if they are CPA certified.

I would say that finance would be better than econ to become an accountant. I have a few colleagues who majored in finance and now work as accountants. If you go into corporate accounting, companies will care about your experience, not your major. However, getting an experience is a another story. You can start by trying to get an internship first, while you are in school.

Tbh, and not to sound like a dick, but if you’re having a hard time hitting the GPA requirements to get INTO the college of business, which I’m gonna guess isnt very high, you’re probably going to struggle in accounting classes, which will lead to poor employment outlook.

If you don’t have a GPA high enough to get into your college’s business school, you may want to start fresh somewhere else or do something else. The highest GPA requirement for an undergrad business program that I have seen in a public college is 3.0. At my college it was a pathetic 2.5. If your GPA is below a 3.0 before you even get into the Business program then you have little chance of making it through unless you have drastically gotten your act together.
