Since there have been very few changes as a result of this thread, I’d say not much at all. As usual. Without the posts in this thread (surely the most active since the changeover and skewing the numbers), I wonder what is the percent drop-off of posts since, say, this time last year?
I don’t understand why there is not a formal response from CC on the front page in response to this thread. Even acknowledgement of our feedback and a date when you would get back to us to address these issues. Very disappointing.
@Regretful, many of us have been through several site changes since we’ve been on CC. It’s always this way; no acknowledgment except on a thread like this one with vague (sometimes continuing) promises that “the team” will “look into it” by an admin who has been tasked with soothing the discontents. Very few things ever get changed.
This has been the worst change that I can remember, though. We’re not going to get the old site back. CC appears to be moving in a direction that clearly de-emphasizes the discussion forum model in favor of generic articles and site navigation that requires many clicks and much scrolling (probably for advertising revenue) to get anywhere. Games such as badges and lists of posters and their activity are important. The posters know the value of their collective wisdom to the students who are applying to colleges. Unfortunately, the site owners and developers do not think these posters are important.
I would be happy if at least the Parent Cafe could be duplicated elsewhere.
What about a virtual sit in? Could we get the word out and have everybody agree to stay off the site for a day? A week? Think it would do any good?
So long, CC. Here I come, Reddit!
If they aren’t going to put it back, I think they really need to widen and darken the font, it needs to be readable. I see that they did darken it from our comments before, but it’s not enough!!
Please widen the font!
I’ve tested on several accounts and I do not see the “t r o l l” mention in that thread title. It’s very weird that you still do. Just to confirm, you are referring to the thread below, right?

I have a suggestion/request for the subforums with lots of pinned posts - if the pinned posts were shaded or colored differently, or even if the pin itself was colored red, it would be much easier to scroll down to the non pinned post. The parent forum in specifically is driving me crazy and that’s where I used to spend the most time. Now I tend to just read the first page of the latest posts and call it quits.
I’m also still struggling that the fastest way to get to a subforum is through my own bookmarks. That is not user friendly for new members.
FWIW, I don’t see the T word either, just the *****
@CCadmin_Sorin I saw it this morning. I’ve jumped around, but it may have been in a thread listing, rather than the individual thread. I was looking for something else, at the time.
I can clearly see the word more than once in skieurope’s reply, though.
@CCadmin_Sorin I see the word where the thread is listed, on the “Recent activity” list below this post, but not in the title or body of the actual thread when you click on it to read it. But honestly, this is a low priority issue.
Thanks, @jym626! I am able to replicate this. I’ll create an internal ticket for tech to have this fixed.

I really hope you get to the bigger priority issues that are driving people off the forum and not simply the use of a banned word. Thanks!
I asked this very question many pages back, and it got no response whatsoever. It would be even more effective if the mods and forum champions also stayed off the site (after all, they are volunteers).
Yes!!! How about some of those “internal tickets” for all of the other issues that have been mentioned as needing fixing with this overhaul. Or how about one great big internal ticket to just delete this new format.
My biggest problem is that I can’t stay on the laptop/desktop version too long because of the font. My eyes have never been the best and this is just too hard to read. Our work e-mail went to the light screens too but they made the text a bit darker so we can read it. I can’t say I’ll leave but I physically can’t read as much as I used to.
Or honestly, if there is no intent to make changes as requested for certain components of the site please just tell us. Is the font not going to change? - tell us. Is the mobile site not going to change? - tell us. If you can’t tell us if any of these things are going to change - tell us!!! Tell us to save our breath. It feels a little unfair that we are your minions alerting you to all the issues and troubleshooting for you without getting a fair, honest pass back.
I recall a children’s book I read. The story goes like this.
Once upon a time, there was a town where the kids decided they were tired of having to listen to their parents. The kids began to misbehave so much, the parents decided to give the kids a lesson - the parents packed up and disappeared, leaving the kids to tend for themselves. The kids enjoyed their newlyfound “freedom” until not so good things started to happen. That story does have a happy ending though (no one died or got injured).
Hmmmm… will the story have a happy ending here?
Any chance that the site will go back to the old format? I just can’t take this one.
