<p>yeah, thanks for the pics (people, post more!). I have been looking for good, "real" pics of Irvine for quite a while. I live in San Diego and never really thought about Irvine. When driving through it, I always thought of it plain, flat, planned, safe city. I never knew it had such a nice campus.</p>
<p>Can anyone explain the construction? What buildings are going to be there when complete?</p>

<p>Great pics...reminded me of my days there. Just for the sake of accuracy, here are some corrections to your captions.</p>
<p>Pic #8. That is Humanities Hall. Many of your humanities discussion sections will meet there. It's adjacent to Murray Krieger Hall, which is where many of the Humanities faculty have offices.</p>
<p>Pic #9. That is the Science Library. That is NOT the building that they filmed Ocean's Eleven at. They filmed the "pinch" scene of Ocean's Eleven across the street from the main campus over at the College of Medicine.</p>
<p>Pic #10. That is James McGaugh Hall. He is a world-renowned Neurobiologist. He is still there on the faculty. This building is also referred to as the "green building" or sometimes some old-timers still call it "Bio Sci II". It is the most expensive building on campus due to its unique fire prevention system.</p>
<p>Pic #11. That is Croul Hall, where many of the atmospheric chemistry labs are. There is a nuclear reactor, and you're probably standing right above it, but you access it from F. Sherwood Rowland Hall, which would be behind you from the angle you're taking the picture at.</p>
<p>Pic #12. The building is McGaugh hall, the "green building" I mentioned earlier.</p>
<p>Pic #13. It's actually called "Aldrich Park", named after Daniel Aldrich, UCI's first chancellor.</p>

<p>mylifeisover - i was actaually thinking the same thing when i looked at the pictures again! The student center is almost complete, most of the construction buildings have progressed greatly.... daaymn. so much can happen in a year.</p>

<p>New pics for new student center opening this fall</p>
<p>I'm so excited for the new student center. I've been to UCSD's Price Center and UCD's Memorial Union, and I've been a bit jealous. But now we'll have our own center!</p>
<p>Yeah, it will be awesome. A school's student center is really the center-piece where students congregate. </p>
<p>UCI keeps replacing previous ones for bigger ones. I don't think they will change this one for several years.</p>
