I plan on going to the University of Arizona at Tucson for relationship reasons, but my parents completely disapprove. I currently live in Arkansas and am acting like I will go to college here, so I'm having to get everything ready and apply for all that I can without their help. Does anyone know how I can plan all of this out? After my parents income is cut off, will FASFA give me more financial aid than they would have previously, and how long will that take? There's a lot I don't know and my school counsellor isn't very helpful. I will most certainly have to apply for loans, but I don't know how to go about doing that at the age of 17 when my parents are currently providing for me. I'm not telling my parents until I'm ready to leave next year. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

My advice is that you tell your parents that you’re going to UA before you leave or you will see what it really means for **** to hit the fan.

My problem is that I REALLY want to go there, but if I can’t get a good loan I won’t be able to. Can I apply for loans if I’m only 17? I turn 18 in the middle of May 2013

I think through FASFA you can get federal student loan. Research if AU has any financial aid packages, as well.
